HOUSTON, TX, April 2024 – ECS Group of Companies (ECS), a leader in geotechnical, construction materials, environmental and facilities engineering, proudly announces a partnership with the ACE Mentor Program in Houston, TX, a local partner of the ACE Mentor Program of America. The program’s goal is to inspire high school students to pursue careers in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry.
The partnership between ECS and ACE Houston began with a vision to empower, inspire and influence students to pursue opportunities in the AEC industry. Carrie Arnold-Gutierrez, founder of ACE Houston, established the Houston chapter in 2008. Despite challenges and disruption caused by Hurricane Ike, the program served its first class of students in 2009. Since then, ACE Houston has grown to five mentoring locations with a network of more than 100 mentors serving more than 200 students weekly.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with ACE Mentor Program Houston,” says Jordan Parker, ACE board member and upcoming fundraising committee chair appointee. “ECS’ core values of collaborate, focus and lead shine bright through the sponsorship and participation in ACE Houston; we take pride knowing we are contributing to the development of future leaders in the AEC industry.”
One of the program’s recognition programs awards a student with the CMiC Allen Berg Memorial Scholarship. Each ACE affiliate can submit a student for the CMiC scholarship. A Houston ACE Mentor Program student was recently awarded a $32,000 CMiC scholarship accompanied by an additional $45,000 of ACE-awarded scholarships. Many of these scholarships are the deciding factor whether a student can pursue a college education.
Reflecting on ECS’ commitment to support ACE Houston’s initiatives, the firm is excited to contribute to the ACE Houston Student Design competition.
