EPA Lead, Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP)
This 8-hour EPA approved course will certify participants for the new Lead RRP training requirements. As of April 22, 2010, anyone who performs renovations, repairs, or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must be EPA Lead RRP Certified. Contractors performing this work must employ at least one Certified Renovator who has successfully completed this training, as well as register the company with the EPA as a Lead Safe. EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Non-Certified Worker
This 2.5-hour course will train Non-Certified Workers to meet the new Lead RRP training requirements. As of April 22, 2010, any worker who performs renovations, repairs or painting in pre-1978 housing or child-occupied facilities must have documented training in lead safe work practices. This course focuses on the worker’s responsibilities while conducting renovations, repairs and painting. It includes hands-on activities for compliance. EPA required documentation will be provided at the completion of the course. (English or Spanish)
- 2.5-Hour Course
This training session covers the basics of lead abatement, provides health protection and exposure requirements, and other relevant concerns as mandated by 29 CFR 1926.62. This course is particularly relevant to contractors, painters, industrial hygienists, and environmental consultants who work around or with lead-based paint. (English or Spanish)
- 2-Hour Course
Lead Inspector Virginia Regulated
This course will train individuals to conduct inspections in both single- and multi-family housing for lead-based paint. This class meets the requirements for EPA and HUD regulations mandated by Title X. The course will focus primarily on state-of-the-art methods for determining lead in paint, soil and settled dust, and includes hands-on activities as required by the governing agency. Lead Risk Assessor
This course will train those individuals who will be conducting risk assessments in public and private housing, large multi-family complexes and childcare facilities using the EPA’s model risk-assessment curriculum. This risk assessment course will focus on issues related to detecting lead hazards in paint, dust, and soil and integrating interim controls of lead hazards into owner’s and/or landlord’s ongoing management and maintenance operations. Individuals completing this course will also be able to recommend various abatement and interim control options. This course includes hands-on activities. The refresher course is offered to persons who have successfully completed an accredited lead-based paint risk assessment initial course. The course is designed to meet requirements under EPA lead regulations as outlined in the Model State Plan. This course will focus on recent developments in assessment techniques, sampling methodologies and lead hazard control which may affect risk assessors.
