Internship FAQs
ECS provides the necessary training for our interns. We have three levels of interns (level 1: beginner, level 2: intermediate and level 3: advanced).
Each of our internships are slightly different. You can expect hands-on field experience that has you on projects providing solutions to our clients.
We seek degrees that complement our services. Civil engineering students are typically hired into our program. However, some majors that we would also consider are architectural engineering, environmental science, geology, geoscience and geotechnical engineering.
We make offers in both fall and spring for summer employment.
Unfortunately, no. If you have already graduated or graduate soon, we encourage you visit our career center and search our open positions.
Ideally, you would be in pursuit of an industry-related services degree, have reliable transportation and be located near an ECS location.
Don’t be discouraged. Things that can set you apart from others include achieving industry training and certifications from organizations such as: American Concrete Institute, Washington Area Council of Engineering Laboratories and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (40-hour HAZWOPER).
New interns receive onboarding information a month prior to your start date. You can reach out to the recruiting team in the meantime with questions.
While we do leverage our internships to hire for entry-level positions, accepting an internship does not necessarily lead to a full-time offer. There are several factors to receiving a full-time offer.
The expectation for our summer internships is approximately 10-12 weeks. If you’re interested in staying on longer, we have a co-op program that allows work to be done during the school year.
