FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chantilly, VA – October 10, 2024 – ECS Group of Companies (ECS), a leader in geotechnical, construction materials testing (CMT), environmental and facilities engineering, proudly announces its partnership with U.S. Hunger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing food insecurity across the US and internationally which partnered with 9/11 Day, an organization that promotes unity and service in honor of September 11, for a meal-packing event to support communities in need.
ECS applies the firm’s core values of collaborate, focus and lead to support the nonprofit’s mission. Together, the companies provide healthy food solutions for underserved communities with programs such as U.S. Hunger’s Full Cart initiative to deliver groceries straight to families in need.
“We stumbled upon this opportunity to stage a large-scale meal pack in New York. It was an ambitious goal,” said 9/11 Day Executive VP and Co-founder Jay Winuk. “We partnered with U.S. Hunger and others to see if we could stage an event. A charitable event on 9/11 focused on generating meals that would go to New Yorkers who were at risk of hunger.”
The partnership aligns perfectly with ECS’ values, as both organizations seek to create lasting impacts in the community. “U.S. Hunger has distributed more than 174 million meals in its history,” said ECS President and CEO and U.S. Hunger Board Chair, Tony Fiorillo. “To me that’s very impactful. They should be proud they’re helping with food insecurity while impacting the health of the families they serve.”
U.S. Hunger was founded in 2010 to provide meals to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Since its inception, the organization has grown globally, distributing more than 172 million meals in 53 countries. Additionally, the organization partners with other initiatives such as 9/11 Day, an event co-founded by David Paine and Jay Winuk where volunteers honor the victims of September 11 by turning the anniversary into a day of service.
ECS is committed to leveraging its resources and staff to contribute to this impactful cause. To learn more about U.S. Hunger or get involved in fighting food insecurity, visit ushunger.org.
