ECS Announces New Cincinnati, Ohio Office Lead by Mark Carlson, PE, RPG

Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is pleased to announce the opening of a new office in Cincinnati, Ohio led by Mark Carlson, PE, RPG, who recently joined ECS as Chief Engineer of the Special Projects Group for ECS Midwest. With his leadership, the focus will be on large, technically challenging projects and the evolution of new service lines for ECS as we continue to grow and build a presence in this new market.

“We are excited to bring Mark onto the ECS Midwest team to head up our new Special Projects Group. Mark brings his over 30 years of experience to bear on complex and challenging projects, with an emphasis on industrial and heavy civil projects,” said Brett Gitskin, PE, President, ECS Midwest, LLC.

Mr. Carlson has worked in the geotechnical and mining engineering consulting industry for 33 years. More recently, he served as Vice President at a leading heavy civil infrastructure construction company in the US focusing on oil, gas and pipeline projects in the eastern half of the US. Prior to working in the heavy construction industry, Mr. Carlson was Senior Vice President and Chief Engineer of one of the largest geotechnical engineering consulting firms where he led their Oil/Gas/Pipeline/Mining program through their National Sales Group.

Mr. Carlson graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining/Civil Engineering, and subsequently with Masters Degrees in both Mining Engineering and Civil Engineering (from Penn State University, and the University of Illinois, respectively). He is a registered Professional Engineer in fifteen states, a Registered Professional Geologist in Kentucky and was elected in 2013 to become a certified Geotechnical Engineering Diplomate (D.GE) through the Geo-Institute of ASCE. Mark is also a Fellow of ASCE (F.ASCE) and the author of several technical papers.
