Daily’s Place Amphitheater and Flex Field

The quiet work beneath the roar of the crowd

Located adjacent to EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, the Daily’s Place Amphitheater and Flex Field, a 94,000, two-in-one amphitheater and covered flex field for the Jacksonville Jaguars, required rigorous subsurface investigation before a single foundation could be designed. ECS Group of Companies evaluated general subsurface conditions across the proposed practice field and amphitheater footprint, including a structural steel and fabric roof system.

Challenge: Buried debris complicates foundation planning

Organic soils, limerock, concrete and brick fragments were encountered at numerous boring locations, indicating a likely presence of large, buried obstructions that could interfere with excavation and deep foundation installation across the site.

Solution: Digger deeper to identify risk

The ECS Florida team drilled 16 SPT borings to depths of approximately 75 feet, installed five groundwater observation wells and conducted laboratory testing on representative soil samples to characterize subsurface composition, strength and compressibility, then recommended a pre-construction test pit program to further define obstruction extents.
