ECS Group of Companies (ECS) announces the promotion of Thomas J. DeGaetano, PE, to assistant branch manager of our Charlottesville, VA, office. Thomas joined ECS in 2017 and has contributed to the Charlottesville office’s success in his most recent role as geotechnical department manager and principal engineer.
Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree from Drexel University in 2011 and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from North Carolina State University in 2025. Thomas has been servicing the local market since 2011 and has more than 15 years of geotechnical engineering and consultation experience.
In his new role, Thomas assists the office manager with productivity, collections tracking, business development activities, project management and principal and senior-level reviews of engineering and materials testing reports. Additionally, he leverages soft skills to lead, mentor and collaborate with geotechnical and construction materials engineers and project managers.
“The promotion to assistant branch manager allows me to step into the branch management role by taking ownership and helping the team succeed in becoming the best service provider in our market,” said Thomas. “It also allows me to create an environment that helps the team grow, deliver excellent products and services and strengthen our position in the local market.”
