Migratory Bird Evaluations (MBE)

Migratory Bird Evaluations (MBE) are needed on projects to ensure compliance with the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). This could include private commercial projects and developments, utility maintenance or installations, renewable energy projects, cell tower maintenance, pile driving or any other project that has the potential to disrupt nesting birds.

The bird survey season is fast approaching! It’s typically between March and September. Adversely impacting the nests of protected birds can result in fines or enforcement action from federal or state officials.

If your development project could potentially disrupt nesting migratory birds, ECS’ surveyors can provide rapid and efficient response anywhere in the country, often providing a report within a matter of days. We will evaluate your site-specific needs and provide recommendations on how to stay in compliance with MBTA.

Please contact us if you have any questions about MBEs and whether your projects may be affected.
