Seismic and earthquake engineering is one of the most specialized disciplines in geotechnical practice. As building codes evolve, developable land becomes more constrained and important infrastructure ages, more projects require site-specific seismic analysis rather than default code values. ECS Government Solutions provides in-house seismic engineering expertise to address these requirements without relying on outside academic consultants. Where required, laboratory testing and data development are supported through the GTOC, providing advanced evaluation of dynamic soil properties and behavior, liquefaction and mitigation technologies.
Our seismic practice includes site-specific seismic response analysis under ASCE/SEI and federal design criteria, liquefaction triggering and consequence analysis, earthquake-induced ground deformation and seismic risk and resilience assessment for large project areas, not just individual structures. ECS has supported seismic studies on projects ranging from coastal transportation corridors in the Southeast to port and harbor facilities on the West Coast and international locations, including evaluations where localized component performance can affect overall facility operation.
