Half Moon Cay

A beloved private island destination, reimagined

Half Moon Cay has welcomed Carnival guests for decades, and the private island on Little San Salvador is now undergoing a significant transformation. Carnival Cruise Line is expanding infrastructure, upgrading guest amenities and adding a new pier to accommodate larger ships.

The project blends new construction with renovation of existing facilities across a remote site with no commercial supply chain. ECS Group of Companies was engaged to provide construction materials testing and Special Inspection services throughout the effort, supporting Carnival’s investment in the island’s next chapter.

Challenge: Remote island with added complexity of new and existing construction

Half Moon Cay sits on Little San Salvador Island with no permanent population and no established construction infrastructure. Every technician, piece of equipment and material sample required sea or air transport. Hurricane activity added further disruption, temporarily pulling staff from the site while construction activity continued.

Solution: Full-time, on-site technician with engineer oversight

ECS deployed a full-time field technician to the island, providing consistent on-site coverage under the oversight of a licensed professional engineer. The team coordinated international shipping and customs for specialized equipment, managed staff housing and transportation and maintained active project engagement through weather-related disruptions.
