J. Michael Sawyers Returns to ECS

 

ECS is pleased to announce that J. Michael “Mike” Sawyers, PE, ENV SP has joined ECS’ Chantilly office as a Geotechnical Principal. Mike brings 30 years of diverse experience to ECS, including work providing an array of services across a variety of market sectors.  Mike couples his more recent experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams with his ability to drill down into the Geosciences to provide a unique consulting perspective.  Some of Mike’s specialty areas include sustainable development, ground improvement, soil management, in situ testing, and chemical drying and stabilization of soils.

As a Geotechnical Principal, Mike will be responsible for providing technical expertise, resource support, and mentorship to the geotechnical staff within the branch and in the satellite offices of Manassas, Winchester, and National Harbor. He will also collaborate with team members to maintain and develop client relationships.

“The opportunity to return to the craft that I honed for many years, at the firm that gave me the tools to do it, has made rejoining ECS very rewarding.  In this role, I am applying over 30 years of experience in the workplace to bolster an already extraordinary team of engineers with a combination of technical oversight, business development expertise, and all-around mentoring,” says Mike, “My primary focus is on geotechnical engineering consulting as part of design and construction teams that enhance the built environment. I support a variety of market sectors and clients, all while looking for opportunities to mentor the next generation of industry professionals and help ECS maintain its strong, sustainable business development culture.”

Originally from Falls Church, VA, Mike initially attended Virginia Tech where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering before heading to the University of Maryland where he attained a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering.
