ECS Announces New Director of Special Projects Group

Mohammed Mulla, PE, PhD, CPM has joined ECS Southeast, LLP as the Vice President, Director of Special Projects Group and is based out of the Raleigh, North Carolina office. In his new role, Mohammad will lead the team responsible for complex geotechnical engineering and environmental services in support of bridge, roadway, mass transit, airport, port expansion and other complex transportation projects throughout the Southeastern U.S.

Mohammed joins the firm with over 30 years of transportation infrastructure experience. Much of his experience comes from his time at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) where he provided expertise in the geologic and geotechnical engineering aspects of planning, design, construction and maintenance of the North Carolina highway system. During his PhD work, Mohammed invented a portable device to estimate the bearing capacity during the design phase and construction of spread footing and roadway subgrade. The device was patented by North Carolina State University. Mohammed’s experience, vison and leadership will be an invaluable asset to ECS.

Mohammed earned his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and both his Masters and PhD in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He is an active member of the Transportation Research Board (TBR) as well as serving as an expert panel member on many of the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) synthesis and research projects.
