How GTOC Works

The Geoscience Testing Operations Center (GTOC) is ECS Government Solutions’ advanced geotechnical and geomaterials testing laboratory. The GTOC is being developed to perform specialized static and dynamic soil mechanics, unsaturated soil behavior, ultrasonic geophysical testing, rock mechanics and seismic-related laboratory testing not commonly available in the commercial market. It is purpose-built to support testing demands for R+D initiatives, mega-projects, federal programs and high-consequence infrastructure where standard index testing does not provide enough information for design.

Lab testing redefined – The GTOC provides not just test results and data for complex laboratory experimentation, but also plain language test result analyses to explain the results, implications, and limitations towards project requirements and designs. GTOC advanced test requirements for forensic analyses , hazard forecasting, and risk mitigation.

The GTOC combines advanced equipment with experienced laboratory personnel and dedicated QA/QC protocols. Testing is performed as part of a broader engineering process, where results are supported by interpretation and connected to the design criteria required for each project. The team supports documentation, traceability and quality expectations associated with federal and nuclear programs, with ongoing efforts toward ASME NQA-1 certification and laboratory accreditation under recognized ASTM standards.

How GTOC Works

The Geoscience Testing Operations Center (GTOC) is ECS Government Solutions’ advanced geotechnical and geomaterials testing laboratory. ECS Government Solutions is leading the research effort into the use of structural steel as ground improvement entities, novel foundation systems, and trench shoring systems.By translating engineering principles into an operationally realistic protocol, these studies bridge critical gaps between geotechnical engineering theory and real-world applications. As an example, ECS Government Solutions has conducted applied research into the design of Pressure Grouted Drilled-In Displacement Piles (PGDDP). PGDDPs combine ground improvement principles with multiphase high pressure grouting to achieve capacities and performance beyond those of conventional deep foundations systems particularly in unsuitable soil conditions. Allowing improved foundational performance at lower costs to our clients.
