Environmental support following a railway chemical release in East Palestine

East Palestine, Ohio became a focal point for environmental response after a railway accident released chemicals across five distinct environmental media types.

ECS Group of Companies was retained by Morgan & Morgan to provide field sampling services at the affected property, deploying a two-person crew to collect soil, soil gas, surface water and sediment samples for litigation-driven requirements.

Challenge: Characterizing contamination across environmental media

Following a railway accident in East Palestine, Ohio, chemical releases affected soil, soil gas, surface water and sediment simultaneously. Sampling had to meet litigation support standards for Morgan & Morgan, requiring rigorous photographic documentation and careful sample location recording across multiple affected media.

Solution: Collecting and documenting samples for assessment

ECS deployed a two-person field sampling crew to collect and document samples across five media types. Samples were submitted for VOC, VOC TIC, SVOC, SVOC TIC and Dioxin analyses. ECS also provided laboratory analytical coordination as requested, supporting Morgan & Morgan’s environmental assessment of the release.
