ECS’ Melissa McGarry of our Chantilly, VA office was recently recognized at the American Council of Engineering Companies Metro Washington (ACEC/MW) 2022 Annual Conference held at the Sheraton Pentagon City. At the event Melissa received the Impact Award for 2021-2022.

The ACEC/MW Impact Award is given each June to a person that has made a lasting impact on the association throughout the previous member year. This is a person that volunteers selflessly to help ACEC advance their strategic goals: to educate, advocate, and engage. Melissa was new to ACEC but joined the programs committee last year. In her role, she served as an integral part of helping to raise funds for the organization’s Engineering Student Scholarship Fund, provided her skills to help with the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala and helped to revitalize the organization’s young professionals events.

“I feel incredibly humbled to receive the Impact Award this year,” Melissa says, “It feels validating to know that ACEC/MW recognizes and values my contributions and time.”

When asked about what the experience of serving on a committee Melissa had this to say, “Being a committee member of ACEC/MW has been an incredibly edifying experience. Our committee has always promoted a free exchange of ideas where each of us receive credit for our contributions. As a recipient of this award, I will continue to approach my committee duties enthusiastically in the upcoming programming year.”

Also, at the event ECS Mid-Atlantic was recognized as the 2022 ACEC/MW Firm of the Year and Bryan Layman, PE, LPSS, AOSE, LEED AP, Regional Manager of ECS Mid-Atlantic Central Region, was recognized for his time and contributions as a member of the ACEC/MW Board of Directors.

ECS wants to congratulate Melissa on her achievements and thank her for representing ECS in such a positive light!
