Remediation in Managing Subsurface Contamination

Many activities lead to subsurface contamination of soil, groundwater and/or soil vapor which directly affects the value of a property and may lead to regulatory enforcement actions against the owner. ECS achieves remediation of these issues at impacted properties by employing various treatment technologies and techniques and supports implementing legal measures which vary depending on the type of contaminant and extent of contamination. Selection of an effective combination of treatment, such as chemical injection, with other remediation approaches can substantially reduce the amount of time required to cleanup a site.

ECS’s Expertise in UST Remediation under PSTFs

ECS routinely executes UST remediation projects under different state Petroleum Storage Tank Funds (PSTFs).

The ECS Florida environmental group is an Agency Term Contractor (ATC) for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Petroleum Restoration Program (PRP). The FDEP has more than 6,000 active sites throughout the state of Florida that have a reported petroleum release. The sites are ranked according to the level of risk for drinking water contamination. Priority for remediation is given to higher-ranked sites. ECS Florida is currently remediating 14 petroleum-impacted sites. Stages of remediation range from design-phase to active remediation to post active remediation monitoring (PARM).
