ECS Gives Back to the Community
ECS offices from all over the firm’s footprint give back to their communities in all kinds of ways. Some of the 2020 projects ECS Mid-Atlantic has supported include contributions to organizations such as Best Buddies, the Mission of Love Event, Race for Every Child, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, and Valley Health Foundation’s fundraising efforts to benefit the Winchester Medical Center. ECS has also provided financial support and sponsorships for other charitable fundraising events, such as the Children’s Inn NIH Golf Tournament and the After School Stars program.
This year, the ECS Baltimore office has been helping to support a project being done by Habitat for Humanity in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood in City of Baltimore. When asked how ECS got involved with the project, Baltimore Branch Manager Joe Meiburger said, “Harkins was seeking third-party residential inspections to help meet the City’s requirements and asked to what extent ECS would be able to partner with them for the project.” ECS donated the time for residential inspections during construction of the foundations and below-grade walls. ECS staff went out to the site during key phases of construction to complete the inspections and issued the required reports for review by the city inspectors. Meiburger said the Baltimore office was excited to contribute.
“Most of us who are based in this office live in the Baltimore area,” Meiburger said. “This is our home and our community. We want to see good things happen in the city, and projects like this are great for everyone.
“Many of our Baltimore office employees grew up here, and this is their home,” Meiburger continued. All our folks, when they heard what we were doing, were very excited to be part of a project like this. We’re always happy to help and glad to be a part of something that directly benefits the city and its residents.”
