ECS Employees Have GRIT: Meet Shannon

Reading Time: 1 minute
Shannon is an Assistant Staff Project Manager and has been with ECS for 15 years.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

At 50 years old, I graduated from college in May 2019 with my BA in Environmental Studies and Sustainability. My colleagues were so supportive on my journey and I really can’t thank them enough for always encouraging me to work hard.

What motivates you to work hard?

My parents instilled in me very young the importance of giving the best and most to anything I do. In my 15 years here at ECS, my goal has always been to perform my work to the best of my ability so that our clients have the best work possible.

What’s the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?

The two people who gave me the opportunity five years ago to join the environmental group and do project work told me that I was able to conquer anything I chose to pursue because I was tenacious and fearless. They saw that I was capable of doing things that I didn’t believe I could do and they truly changed my life.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

When I was in college the first time around, the Mets won the World Series. While I was a Yankee Fan, the majority of my friends in the dorm were faithful Mets fans. Ten of us piled into two cars, skipped classes, drove 10 hours to NYC to see the tickertape parade, and then drove all the way back so we could be back in class the next day. It was a crazy whirlwind trip but one I will never forget with none of our parents knowing until long after we were already back in class.
