ECS Employees Have GRIT: Meet Lori

Reading Time: 1 minute
Lori is an Environmental Principal and has been a member of the ECS team for three years.

What was your first job?
Department store gift wrapper – to this day I still wrap amazing presents (no gift bags for me)!

How did you decide to enter this industry?

It selected me. I started as a graphic artist for an environmental firm. My attention to detail led to research and going back to school with science and leadership classes plus environmental certifications. I have now been working in Environmental Due Diligence for 25 years.

What’s the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?

Don’t let the negative define you. If I heard nine positive comments in one day and one negative one, as a people pleaser that one comment would keep me up at night. Let it go, change what you can change and be better tomorrow.

Do you have a personal motto or words you live by?
Do what you say and say what you do! If you promise it, deliver; if you are expected, show up; if someone contacts you, respond. Being accountable is an underrated virtue.

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

Halloween—who doesn’t love a good costume? And National Wine Day, obviously.
