Project Description

The 2 story City Hall and Police/Courts facilities are located at the intersection of Boundary Street and Ribaut Street with gross areas of 28,000-sf and 35,000-sf, respectively.  Designed by Liollio Architecture of Charleston, South Carolina, the structure has a cast-in-place concrete and structural masonry frame with grade and panel deck slabs supported by a shallow foundation system.  The municipal complex project has been constructed by Leopardo Construction of Charleston, SC for LCK Construction Services representing the City of Beaufort.

 

ECS Involvement

·         Provided geotechnical consulting and special inspection services.

·         Provided observation and testing of foundation bearing soils and concrete sampling and testing for the foundation system.

·         Provided observation of reinforcing steel and concrete sampling and testing.

·         Provided observation of masonry and grout sampling and testing.

·         Performed transport, laboratory curing, and compressive strength testing for cylinder and grout test specimens.

·         Performed water penetration testing of the window assemblies for the Police/Courts Facility

·         Performed paving observations and testing.

 

Project Highlights

·         Observed leaking during window penetration testing resulting in the owners resolving the issues prior to occupancy.
