William Rainey Harper College, multiple projects including the new Science and Emerging Technology and Health Center and the Student Administration Building, totaling over 200,000 square feet, and constructed of structural steel framing and/or cast in place concrete, supported by continuous strip and spread footings. 

 

Project Highlights:

·         ECS was contracted by the project architect, Legat Architects, to provide geotechnical exploration and engineering services for the project. These included geotechnical exploration and sampling, laboratory testing and consulting throughout the design process. Supplemental soil borings were performed to further evaluate the subsurface conditions and determine the extent of poor soil that could affect the orientation of the building. The Technology and Health Center building included utility tunnel connecting the two buildings.

·         Through the general contractor, ECS provided material testing and documentation services, and engineering support services, throughout all phases of construction, including:  earthwork, reinforcing and structural steel, masonry, fireproofing, determination of FF and FL values (Floor Flatness and Floor Levelness), concrete and asphalt placement.
