![]() Project Description: The NIH Building 33 Complex will house the National Institute of
Allergy and Infectious Diseases and will incorporate a vivarium, Biosafety level 2 and Biosafety
level 3 laboratories, offices, conference rooms, animal quarters, mechanical
space and waste handling areas. The complex is comprised of: ·
Five story 300,000 square foot high containment laboratory
facility ·
1,230 space six story parking garage ·
1,000,000 gallon underground storm water management facility ·
¼ mile extension of an underground utility tunnel ·
Adjacent site and roadwork ECS Involvement: ·
ECS provided observation and testing of spread footing
foundations. ·
ECS provided observation and testing of cast-in-place concrete
for foundations, walls, columns, and slabs. ·
ECS also provided observation and testing of compacted
structural fill and backfill as well as pre-cast concrete and structural steel. ·
The project included significant reinforcing and structural
steel detailing and inspections. ·
The project included high pressure carbon and stainless steel
utility piping. ECS performed ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and liquid dye penetrant testing of piping. |
