![]() Project Description: The Advanced Measurement
Laboratory (AML) consists of five building wings, each with one occupiable scientific level, totaling more than 500,000
square feet. Two metrology wings are below grade, two physical sciences wings
and a cleanroom wing are located above grade. The
buildings were constructed by a joint venture of Clark Construction/Guilford. ECS Involvement: ·
ECS performed observation and testing of: Ê
Spread footing foundations Ê
Cast-in-place concrete for foundations, walls and slabs on grade
Ê
Cementitious and intumescent fireproofing Ê
Compacted structural fill and backfill, which exceeded 30 feet
in height Ê
Reinforcing and structural steel ·
AML is one of the most technologically advanced buildings in the
world. No existing laboratory combines the features of close temperature
control, vibration isolation, air cleanliness, and power quality into a
facility of this magnitude or importance. |
