Project Description:

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) awarded the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University the highly competitive "comprehensive" designation - reflecting the Cancer Center's dedication to the highest standards of cancer research, patient care, prevention and education - The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University is the only cancer center in Illinois and one of only 40 in the nation to hold this NCI designation.

The Lurie Research Center at Northwestern University is a multi-level structure with a slab-on-grade.  The structure has a structural steel frame.  Elevated slabs and the roof consist of metal decks with concrete in fill.  The building exterior includes curtain wall facade and some pre-cast concrete panels.

ECS Involvement:

·         ECS performed the construction materials testing for the project including cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, fire-proofing and roofing observation.
