Project Description:

The Richmond Convention Center facility consists of a three story, 615,000 square foot building with a ballroom and a six story parking garage. Construction included caissons, columns, slabs, grade beams and structural steel.

ECS Involvement:

·         ECS provided value engineering for the project with a re-design of the spread footing designed for 5,000 per square foot.

·         Portions of the center were supported on 165 belled caissons drilled approximately 60 feet deep.

·         ECS provided full time construction materials testing services in support of Special Inspections in accordance with BOCA 1705.0 including soils, concrete, structural steel, fireproofing, and pavement.
